And unlike sooooo many other problem threads here at "iTunes for Windows", iTunes 10.4.0.60 runs just fine for me (whew).Īs to ". Yesterday thanks to CarolFromHazlet's link to TechSpot (one of my favorite websites, btw) I did get Quicktime v7.7.80.34 installed on my old WinXP box without any problems. If anyone figures out how/where to actually get v7.7 for Windows (WITHOUT the bloated "Apple Software Updater" component), please post here. So at the moment, even though Apple announced & QuickTime claims to provide the new v7.7, in fact Apple is serving up old version 7.6.9. Thinking that maybe Apple had simply "forgotten" to update the version number on that webpage, I went ahead and downloaded the QT package, but when I unpacked that installer (using WinRAR), I see that indeed the downloaded package itself is indeed v7.6.9. Now when I attempt to update QuickTime from within QuickTime (7.6.9), or from WinXP Control Panel> QuickTime, it says new version 7.7 is available but it then takes me to webpage that STILL lists version 7.6.9 of QuickTime !! I intentionally avoided installing the "Apple Software Update" component of the iTunes+QuickTime installer package (v10.4 iTunes w/ v7.6.9 QuickTime) by following this procedure: out-bloatware/2390?tag=mantle_skin content
